As a modern veteran (Gulf 1, Somalia, Cambodia) I will say that in my opinion, I never really resonated with Khe Sanh. Great song, nothing against it. But I was only 19 still makes me cry. These days I can listen to the song to the end (crying) but I still can’t sing along. The only other song that does this to me is The band played waltzing Matilda. Thank you John and Mick for giving those veterans that can’t express themselves properly an outlet for some emition
